Check Out Ze Franks The Show
[ The Bivings Report] The best video blog Ive seen is The Show, which is produced every weekday by Ze Frank, a design/performance artist who gained Internet celebrity a few years back with the Flash piece, How to Dance Properly. The Show is a weird blend of news commentary, personal observations and bathroom humor. I think its pretty fantastic. The Show also has some lessons to teach in how to use technology to build a community: A few episodes of The Show have been written entirely by viewers using a wiki, and then faithfully performed by Ze.

Reddit goes white label
[PostBubble] One good way for web 2.0 companies to bring in revenue is to offer white label solutions for their software or applications. There are a lot of these web applications that would serve as great internal solutions for corporations that would help them discover all kinds of new information.

Google Code Project Hosting - A replacement for Sourceforge?
[//engtech] There is a new entry into the open source software code repository space: Google. This will hopefully be a long awaited kick in the pants for Sourceforge.net which hosts many, many projects but it can be difficult to find the cream of the crop, compare similar solutions and weed dead projects from the results.

Mennonites and Google
[Joe Duck] The Mennonites are known for their craftsmanship and honest business dealings. Today, down at a local planing mill it was interesting to watch how important the social negotiation process was to doing business as my uncle and cousin figured out how to go about getting some raw planks from their tree farm turned into floorboards. “Are you related to ….?” and “my daughter lives over on your road”

Technorati updates: more like Digg, and actually works
[duncanriley.com] Speed wise: wow…and I mean wow + they’ve finally integrated Technorati rankings back into lower ranking blogs, so I finally know where my sites actually rank now in the blogosphere. However, time will tell if this is actually updated regularly…I can only hope so.

Web 2.0: The Power Behind the Hype
[Digital Media Minute] Web 2.0 isn’t a ‘thing’, but a collection of approaches, which are all converging on the development world at a rapid pace. These approaches, including APIs, RSS, Folksonomies, and Social Networking, suddenly give application developers a new way to approach hard problems with surprisingly effective results.

StumbleUpon Supports Internet Explorer
[e-Fuze Mobile] StumbleUpon is a toolbar that was originally available as a Firefox extension, and now, it supports Internet Explorer. The idea is fairly simple, that is, it allows users to browse and find new websites that have been recommended by friends who share similar interests.

MyWhatSpace sends group messages in MySpace
[TechCrunch] The reason MySpace can get away with stuff like this is that the majority are not even remotely tech-savvy and wouldn’t have known about this unless MySpace told them… Apparently what users don’t know isn’t good for them, and what MySpace won’t tell gets rid of competition (or a userbase which is aware that it is possible to have better features than MySpace and actively seeks an alternative)…

Reboot 8: I
[Preoccupations] Last year I wrote that Reboot 7 was 'far and away the best conference experience I have known and has so farresisted my attempts to write it up: too much to say, with each line ofthought multiplying into several new ones as idea leads on to idea'. There's a brief, '100% personal and biased' history of Reboot here and the program for this year's meeting is here.

Stutzman on Metcalfes Law and social networking
[ fresh + new] When using Metcalfe (or Reed, or Odlyzoko and Tilly’s refinement) to value a network, the core assumption is that the value we derive from the network is binary - this works for things like ethernet and telephony, but the mathematics prove to be overly crude when applied to social network technologies.

If I Can't Have a Revenue Model, Then Neither Can You!
[Newsome.Org] People try so hard to couch the Web 2.0, blogosphere, etc. thing as a real business, but when a real business, with an actual revenue model, makes a smart and logical business decision to protect that revenue, a lot of those same people cry foul.

BlueOrganizer Brings Amazon to Firefox
[Mashable*] Once you’ve bookmarked some products, you can explore your collection by tags and media type, or just enter a search term. You can also use your collection as a starting point for other tasks - renting movies on Netflix, finding related videos on YouTube or searching for your favorite books on Technorati.

The Pandora Bet
[CrunchNotes] As far as I know Steve has never admitted to being wrong about anything, ever (his general policy is to amend the historical record so that his story matches the eventual reality). I’m glad to see he’s finally willing to admit that his predictions aren’t a lock.
